A goldfish underwent brain surgery and will alive another 20 years.
A goldfish in Australia is presently in the state of recovering from surgery after a dangerous tumour was removed from its brain in a “high-risk” operation.
George, whose owner lives in Melbourne, was insert under general anaesthetic for the $200 (£125) procedure.
Dr Tristan Rich, surgeon who bring out the operation, told the local radio station that the fish was now “up and about and swimming around”.
Vets say the 10-year-old patients is now normal to live for another 20 years.
The surgeon said that, after the procedure was complete, George was released into the third bucket, filled with oxygenised water, and was left to recover.
Dr Rich described the 45-min. operation as “fiddly”.The surgery, which included putting the fish under general anaesthetic, took about 45 mins. Dr Rich : “It’s a very fiddly operation, and you have to be very careful about blood cost,” he explained.
